Winners and an Announcement!

Hello there, friends! So, after much deliberation, we have decided that the Edit Me Challenge will be taking a little break for the holidays! We will be back in 2012, and look forward to reconnecting with all of you at that time! Feel free to continue to submit Guest Judge and Sponsor requests until that point, but we won't have any challenges for the next several weeks. Thank you to everyone who has continued to make this challenge so much fun, and we wish you joy and wonderful memories this holiday season!

Now... on to the fun stuff! It is time to hear Alita's winners!!

Just to refresh you memory, here is a little bit about our judge for the week, the lovely Alita of Alita Jewel's Treasures:
Hi my name is Alita! I have an infinite desire to always create. I create words, memories, moments of time captured through my lens, art, poetry, and thoughts. I love all of these creations and they overwhelm me sometimes. However it is an honor to be able to share these visions, novelties, and ambitions with others. Grab a cup of coffee, and let's chat. I love to meet new people and converse with cherished friends.

Alita also writes for Bigger Picture Blogs, which nourishes creativity through intentional living . You can join every Thursday in sharing the harvest of intentional living by capturing a glimpse of the Bigger Picture through a Simple Moment. you can check it out here. Be sure to visit Alita on twitterfacebook , or Pinterest and thank her for being our judge!

And here is what she had to say about her winners:

Thank you for the opportunity to not only view fresh and new editing styles, but to connect with other photographers who love photography. I enjoyed viewing every single photo in the competition and it was hard to decide which pictures moved me the most, but the top three edits were spectacular and I can't wait to share them with you.

I chose the following:

Robin from Diet Coke on the Rocks - Delightful in every single way. I love the warmth and the soft blue of the sky is a perfect contrast the the honeyed browns. I adore this edit!

Kimberly from A Fresh Perspective - The tones in this edit make the picture ethereal and magical in a way. So lovely!

Week-26-edit

Amy from Flickr - I'm a complete sucker for bokeh and the sharp highlighting of the ice and the sky make me want to drool. This is my overall favorite! I loved it and kept going back to it. Well done!

Congratulations to our Winners! Be sure to grab your winner buttons, and we will see you back here in 2012!

If you would like an email reminder when the challenge starts up again,

Please continue to spread the word about our new home here, use the new flickr pool, and tweet away with the hashtag #editmechallenge!

This week's judge was Misty from Through a Photographer's Eyes. I find myself checking her blog often just to be inspired in photography and to see what amazing thing she’s captured lately!

Misty gave us the perfect Harvest photo: this fantastic tractor. It reminded me of our family trip to the pumpkin patch and how thankful I am for the wonderful farmers who work so hard to grow the food that’s gonna fill our tables next week.

Winners! {Week24}

I was really excited about having you guys edit this photo for me. Every week I am amazed at the creativity and variety in the edits we get! I am always so inspired by the time I am done making my comment rounds, and think "boy am I glad I don'thave to choose the winner"... except this week, I do! I wish I could have chosen a dozen winners, because there were so many great entries, but I don't let anyone else cheat and pick extras, so here are my Top 3 Edits. (I also posted my own edit as part of my Texture Tuesday post over on my own blog)

Sarah @ Naptime Momtog brought back her serious pixel bender skills, and created an image that is fun and unique! You can tell the initial edit was gorgeous by the color and light in this edit, and then adding that creative touch turned this into a work of art! I can't help but wonder what my Grandpa would think of this one!

Deanna @ Snippets from Springdale had a lovely vintage edit with such light and vibrance! I love how the photo just glows! Then she added a perfect extra touch with her presentation. The frame and text really add a little extra something that I love.

And my Overall Winner:

Jordan @ Holding On to the Little Things had an edit with gorgeous colors! I love how deep the photo is. I have a tendency to go for overexposed, and remove color rather than saturate images, so I was really inspired by this edit that reminded me why variety is a beautiful thing!

Winners, be sure to grab your buttons from the sidebar!

See you all back here tomorrow for a brand new challenge!!

My Reflection of SomethingThis week, the judge for the challenge is one of your hostesses - Branson! I had been wanting to visit this spot and take this photo for quite a while now. This is one of my grandfather's old cameras, and I shared a little bit about that here. I thought it would make a perfect Edit Me photo, because what photographer can resist a vintage camera? So, when I took the photo I left plenty of room for you to play around with it! I haven't judged a challenge since the start of July, so I am excited to see some amazing, creative edits this week! I hope you guys will make this judging really hard on me!

Choosing LoveWendy Wright was our fabulous guest judge this week. Not only is she a writer, photographer and homeschooling mom, but she’s also a Disneyland nut who is learning to let go of heartache and pain while learning to dance in the rain. She started Sunflowers Photography in May 2010 and features her pictures on Choosing Love and Arizona Moms Network. Foto Friday is a brand new link up to showcase your favorite photo of the week. All levels of photography are welcome! Be sure to take a moment to thank Wendy for judging this week on Twitter and Facebook!

Her original photo was screaming for out of the box creativity, and she said you all certainly delivered!!!

Here are Wendy’s winner picks:

This picture was one I dearly loved of my boys but the glare of the sun was horrible. Since the goal of the Edit Me Challenge is to take someone else's photo and make it your own with the editing, I based this week's winners on the creativity behind the edits as well as the edit. I had no idea how difficult it would be to pick only three winners. There were so many amazing edits this week!

Captured by Jennalynn

Jenna of Captured by Jennalynn

The crisp, clear edit with Jenna's sepia action reminds me of Walt Disney's classic style. Classic Disney never goes out of style.

Fotoplicity

Jennifer of Fotoplicity

Instead of fighting the glare, Jennifer gave into it full force and completely stepped out of her comfort zone. Adding extra glare to the artistic picture was complemented with pixie dust flying around. The extra touch of grass makes the edit all her own.

Bree

The overall winner is...Bree of Bree: {his honey & her mommy}

The dreamy appearance completely helps to mask the sun glare. Reducing the saturation take the focus off Tinkerbell and place the focus on Captain Hook without compromising the coloring on his costume. Nicely done!

Thank you for allowing me to be a guest judge this week!

Congratulations to all of the WINNERS!!!

Make sure you grab your button and post it with pride.

And, of course, Bree you are the Overall Winner and you get this design prize from Southtown Creative!!!

You may know our sponsor, Jessica, from her blog Freckles & Dirt, but did you know she also has a brand new design business? She calls it Southtown Creative, and she is so talented! She is giving this week's winner a $50 credit to use on anything they choose! She does blog design, but she also does print items like business cards, invitations, and announcements!

You can follow her on Facebook at and on Twitter

I can't wait to see what the winner chooses with a $50 credit to my shop good towards ANY design element (web, graphic or print)! My services can be found here and you can view examples of both web and print design below!

THANKS AGAIN TO WENDY AND JESSICA! WE CAN’T DO IT WITHOUT FABULOUS JUDGES AND SPONSORS.

We are always looking for guest judges and sponsors. If you are interested, be sure to let us know!

Winners| Week 22

I think this first Edit Me at our new site has been a HUGE success! So happy just to have everything happening in one convenient spot.  Continue to use the new flickr pool whenever possible. It makes things super easy for the judge and everybody wanting to check out the variety of edits, and don't forget to be tweeting your entries with the hashtag: #editmechallenge! We really appreciate you spreading the word :)

Live and Love...Out LoudThis week's guest judge was Kristi from Live and Love out Loud. The original photo she provided is of her gorgeous daughter, and there was no doubt that you would all deliver an array of incredible possibilities. Let’s face it, you really can’t go wrong with such a great model! I don’t envy Kristi’s position to have to choose, but she managed to do it.

Let’s take a look at the original one more time, and then you can scroll on down to discover this week’s winners!

This is where I’m going to let Kristi take it away:

Here are the winners I've chosen. So tough!

Naptime Momtog

Sarah of Naptime Momtog

One of the things I love about Sarah's editing style is that she knows how to make eyes POP! She certainly worked her eye popping magic in this sepia edit. Great work!

Mama Schell Says

Jenn of Mama Schell Says

Jenn's black and white edit is clean and simple. Some features are often lost during the black and white conversion (lips can often appear too light or pale), but Jenn did a great job with this. The subject's lips still have an air of drama to them. And her eyes? They're pulling me in!

Simply You Simply Me

And . . . Overall winner: Dawn of Simply You, Simply Me.

Teenage acne and dark under eye circles can certainly be a challenge during the editing process, but Dawn nailed it! The subject's skin looks beautiful; so smooth and luminous. And? Dawn made it look ridiculously effortless.

Thank you so much for having me as a guest judge. It was such an honor.

Congratulations to all of the WINNERS!!!

Make sure you grab your button and post it with pride.

And, of course, Dawn you are the Overall Winner and you get a gorgeous desk calendar from Katie Lloyd!!!

Hi! I'm Katie, owner of Katie Lloyd Photography. Who out there likes looking at bare walls in your home? No one? Me either! In my shop you will find fun, colorful and whimsical fine art photography prints for your home decor needs: from nurseries to adult bedrooms, living rooms to kitchens, man caves to powder rooms...and everything in between!

Blog - Facebook - Twitter - Shop

This week's winner will receive one of Katie's beautiful desk calendars!

#editmechallenge - Week 22

Welcome, welcome, welcome!

We are so excited to have you here for the very first challenge in our brand new blog home! Just a bit of housekeeping here in the new place... please be sure to use the new flickr pool this week, and don't forget to be tweeting your entries with the hashtag: #editmechallenge! We want to make sure everyone finds there way over here to our new blog, so be sure to spread the word!
So, let's get this editing party started!

Live and Love...Out LoudThis week's guest judge is the amazing Kristi from Live and Love out Loud. I just love how Kristi describes her blog: Encouraging, empowering and celebrating the everyday woman is what this here blog is all about. I’m living it up, loving out loud and laughing it off as I navigate my way through the challenges and triumphs of motherhood and marriage. You’ll laugh. You’ll cry. You’ll realize that you’re not alone. Kristi is also a talented photographer, and hosts her own photography linkups: Wordless Wednesday and right now the Shades of Autumn challenge (which she cohosts with two other fabulous ladies!) The photo she has given us today is of her gorgeous daughter. I can't wait to see what you guys do with this one!

Happy Editing, friends!

October 13, 2011

Welcome!

Hello there, friends! We are so glad you have come to join us in the brand new home of the Edit Me challenge! If you are new to the challenge, here is how it works:
Each week a fabulous guest judge provides an unedited photo, and invites you to take it and make it your own! You can use any editing program you choose. It is all about having fun and giving the photo your own style. You can use effects, textures, frames... or choose to do an amazing clean edit and keep it simple! The beauty of the challenge is that no two edits are identical, and we all get a chance to learn from each other! At the end of the challenge, the guest judge chooses their favorite edits, and occasionally we get to throw in a prize for our winner!
This challenge will be in it's 22nd week when it resumes here on the new blog next Wednesday! If you would like to check out some past challenges, you can find them here. You can also browse through past winner posts right here. Here are some fan favorites from past challenges... you can see these and more (and I would love for you to link up your own!) here.
We are very excited to introduce you to our first guest judge and prize sponsor here in our new home, so make sure you join us bright and early Wednesday morning! Feel free to follow the blog by RSS, Twitter, and Flickr so you don't miss a thing!

Last, but not least, how about getting to know your hosts a bit?!

Branson has been running the challenge since she first took the reigns from the lovely Ashley earlier this year. Here is a little bit about her:

I am the wife of a super-tall guy with a huge heart, a mama to one very sweet little mop-top boy, and an aunt to many. That's my day job! I am a child of God, and a stubborn one at that, who is constantly re-learning the amazing promises that my Heavenly Father has laid out for me. I have a love for photography, and creating art through editing is my passion... that is why I love this challenge so much! I recently closed my blog in a search for balance, but I am still a tweet-a-holic, and an avid emailer (beware, I tend to write novels in my replies) so you will see me here and there in the online world!

Kathryn joined the Edit Me team a couple months ago, and has been an amazing partner! She is the one who designed our fabulous new header and buttons, and always breathes fun and energy into our winner posts. Here is a little bit about her:

My name is Kathryn Adams. I blog. I have a love affair with my vacuum cleaner, and I think coffee is one of God’s greatest gifts. I am the mother of two — Banana and Moose {a.k.a. Anna and Madison}. They are everything I want to be when I grow up: funny, creative, smart, kind, compassionate and forgiving. The forgiving part is crucial, ‘cause sometimes I’m the mom who forgets to pack their lunch or turn in field trip permission slips or sign their homework.
Luckily, I’m married to a forgiving husband, too, ‘cause sometimes I’m the wife who is too busy posting on her blog to cook dinner or who decided to spend the day playing in Lightroom instead of doing laundry. If you get me started on my Nikon, I’ll go on ALL day.

I can’t imagine a life without faith, without grace {I need so much!}, without unconditional love. I’m amazed and awed every day by Jesus — His heart, His Word, His presence. He changes EVERYTHING. I’d love to hear from you, and I hope you’ll stop by Our tiny big Life. Let’s be friends!

Our tiny BIG Life

We can't wait to get to know all of YOU a little bit better! Whether you have been with us since the beginning, or are here for the first time, you will find this challenge community is an amazing group of people! Feel free to introduce yourself here in the comments, or in the discussion over in our flickr group! We also encourage you to check out our guidelines, and perhaps consider being a guest judge or prize sponsor in the coming weeks! Let us know if you have any questions!

Have a wonderful weekend, and we will see you Wednesday!
